Is the iPad “Military Grade”?
Well it seems the U.S. Department of Defense feels it is. VentureBeat and other technology news outlets are reporting (link to article) that the U.S. DoD has ordered 120,000 iPads and 100,000 iPad Mini's.
More than half of these are headed to the battlefield, presumably as part of the Army’s efforts to modernize communication, tactics, and command.
If the iPad is rugged enough for a soldier on the battlefield, I guess it's rugged enough for a geotechnical engineering technician to collect construction materials testing data on a construction site.
